NTTC compiles guide for security planning

The National Tank Truck Carriers (NTTC) has released "Guidelines For Complying With DOT's Security Regulations" in the public section of its Web site at tanktruck.org.

"Given our industry's involvement with hazardous materials transportation, the guidelines are designed to assist all bulk carriers to comply with these important regulations," says Cliff Harvison, NTTC president. "There's a relatively short time frame for all in our industry to develop plans and train thousands of employees, and this document is intended to expedite that process."

Both the guidelines and the Department of Transportation ruling are posted in the site's News and Updates section. The publication follows up on release of Docket HM232 by the Research and Special Programs Administration (RSPA) that mandates the corporate development of a security plan and the training of employees that handle hazardous materials products. The guidelines are a series of how-to recommendations gathered from a review of tank truck programs already implemented by NTTC-member carriers, Harvison says.
