Members of National Tank Truck Carriers Inc (NTTC) flocked to Atlanta, Georgia, for the 51st annual conference and tank truck equipment show. This was just the second time that NTTC had met in this fast-growing southern city.

Speakers at the meeting covered a wide range of topics that included higher gross weights, the future of the North American Free Trade Agreement, and Chemtrec's continuing service to the industry. Driver training needs and commercial driver license oversight were discussed.

Suppliers to the fleet operators were well represented. Sixty exhibitors participated in the sold-out event. Products represented by the vendors ranged from tractors and tank trailers to emergency response and tank cleaning services.

Robert A Schurer, president of Transport Service Co in Hinsdale, Illinois, was elected the 1999-2000 chairman. Schurer previously was central region vice-chairman.
