MPC not affiliated with Panama business

Nov 1, 2004 12:00 PM

Detroit MI-based Marine Pollution Control Corp (MPC), is seeking to eliminate any confusion that may arise over the recent formation of Marine Pollution Control SA in Panama and whether MPC is somehow affiliated with this new entity.

A provider of emergency spill response, oil pollution cleanup, and emergency lightering services for more than 37 years, MPC is not affiliated in any way with Marine Pollution Control SA in Panama. MPC is disappointed that those incorporating this business have chosen to capitalize on the reputation, name, and history of MPC in an attempt to garner new business in the Panama Canal.

MPC has worked around the world, removing the remaining cargo from the Exxon Valdez during a major spill in Alaska in 1989, and performing other cleanup operations during the spill. The company responded to the Amoco Cadiz disaster and participated in the cleanup of the Persian Gulf after Iraq dumped oil into the sea during the Gulf War.
