Mobile system helps Ferrellgas fulfill duties

Nov 1, 2004 12:00 PM

Intermec Technologies Corp and Agentek Inc have completed the deployment of an integrated, realtime wireless handheld mobile computing system for Ferrellgas of Liberty MO. The system is designed to capture accurate data about delivery and pick-up operations for Ferrellgas, a retail marketer of propane.

Agentek's Agent Route Delivery application, using its new TXP wireless protocol, will interact in real time with the Ferrellgas enterprise system for routing, dispatch, delivery, field data collection, and order completion. Approximately 4,000 Ferrellgas drivers and field technicians will use Intermec Model 750 or 760 mobile computers with integrated 802.11b radios for complete mobility.

The 700 Series mobile computers have powerful communication options, the latest battery and display technology, and speed and memory capabilities that will allow the company to improve distribution time, enhance customer service, and increase efficiency of operations.

The Intermec 750 and 760 are powered by the Microsoft Windows Pocket PC operating system.
