Low-emission diesel to be sold in Texas

Nov 1, 2002 12:00 PM

International Fuel Technology Inc has unveiled a fuel blend, Texas Diesel-1 (TD-1), for the Texas marketplace. IFT has received notification from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) that TD-1 meets specifications for California Air Resources Board diesel, and therefore qualifies as low-emission diesel (LED) in Texas. Use of TD-1 will enable diesel fuel suppliers to comply with the Texas LED Fuel Program, which mandates all diesel fuel sold in 110 affected counties in central and eastern Texas meet LED specifications beginning in 2005.

TD-1 will be distributed to the greater Houston area by Ada Resources Inc, a subsidiary of Adams Resources & Energy Inc. Ada will bring TD-1 to the Houston market immediately through the Texas Emissions Reduction Program (TERP), administered by the TCEQ. TERP provides reimbursements to diesel fuel users who opt to use a diesel fuel that emits less nitrogen oxides.
