Hobbs Group LLC has formed a specialty transportation division designed to provide insurance programs for large trucking companies. The new transportation division will be based in Chicago IL. Named its executive vice-president/managing director is Alan M Shetzer, a 36-year veteran of the insurance industry and expert on trucking insurance. Shetzer most recently served as senior vice-president in charge of production and marketing of large transportation accounts at AON Risk Services. He was also president of Woodfield Financial Group and S&S Insurance Agency, and was the national sales manager for the trucking division of Willis Corroon.

Hobbs Transportation Group will offer several policies and claims-handling procedures tailored to meet the insurance needs of large trucking companies. The company will offer the services of an on-staff trucking safety professional as well as coverage and pricing experts. Hobbs not only will place the insurance at the proper price, but also will assist clients in loss reductions. Combined, these clients represent 10% of the top 100 trucking companies in the United States.
