Gary Weinberg, product specialist for Haycock Petroleum, recently passed the Certified Lubrication Specialist (CLS) exam offered through The Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE), making him the first certified specialist in Nevada.

STLE works to advance the knowledge and application of the science of lubrication engineering and tribology through education, certification, professional networking, and technical information.

The CLS exam, offered since 1994, is a three-hour exam with 150 randomly chosen essay questions that test an individual's knowledge of 15 critical areas of lubrication technology, including lubrication manufacturing, transportation, metalworking, solvents and cleaners, and fluid analysis. The exam currently has a 47% pass rate.
