The United States Senate has confirmed Annette Sandberg as administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). She had been deputy administrator of the agency, as well as deputy administrator of National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Sandberg has acted as FMCSA administrator since the first of 2003, when she replaced Joseph Clapp upon his retirement.

Nicole Nason has been confirmed as the new assistant secretary for governmental affairs for the United States Department of Transportation (DOT). She comes to DOT from the US Customs Service, where she was assistant commissioner of the Office of Congressional Affairs.
