Claude E Mays III, formerly Transport Service Co's environmental manager, has accepted a senior project manager position with Mostardi Platt Associates Inc, an Elmhurst IL-based environmental company, in the Environmental Compliance Department.

Metropolitan Environmental Inc has appointed J Candella chief executive officer, Scott Swonger president, Jackie Murray vice-president of sales and operations, Kevin Schmidt vice-president of finance and administration, and Tom Moline vice-president of terminal support services.

Ruan Transportation Management Systems (RTMS) has named Mark Merfeld vice-president of marketing, strategic planning, and quality; Matt McCoy has been named vice-president of industry relations. Merfeld joined RTMS in 1998 as controller. McCoy has been director of industry relations and manager of driver development at the company, and has served in the Iowa Legislature as a state senator since 1996.
