Ellen G Engleman, president and chief executive officer of Electricore Inc in Indianapolis IN, has been selected to serve as administrator of the Research and Special Programs Administration of the United States Department of Transportation.

An attorney and accredited public relations professional, Engleman has 20 years' experience in public affairs and governmental affairs, public policy, and administration. In her position at Electricore, Engleman led a research and development federal partnership developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Engleman served a year as director of corporate and government affairs for Direct Relief International, where she increased corporate in-kind medical donations by almost 100% in less than one year. She also spent five years as a public affairs executive for GTE.
