BOSTON, Massachusetts, and its historic sites formed the backdrop for the National Tank Truck Carriers 53rd annual conference and tank truck equipment show. The city, which has experienced more than its fair share of turmoil over our nation's history, seemed a fitting venue for this year's meeting.
Speakers at the conference covered a range of topics that included the tank truck industry economic outlook for the rest of the year, public-sector emergency service reimbursements, the growing shift by chemical companies to third-party logistics providers, and recent developments in commerce law that impact tank truck carriers.
Among those attending the conference and trade show were carrier executives, shippers, supplier representatives, spouses, and government officials. More than 40 exhibitors participated in the event.
John Groendyke, president and chairman of Groendyke Transport Inc, was elected the 2001-2002 chairman. Groendyke previously was western region vice-chairman.
NTTC's 54th annual conference and tank truck equipment show is scheduled for May 19-21, 2002, in San Francisco, California.
