Drive tire can handle northern exposure

Jun 1, 2006 12:00 PM

Bandag Inc will offer BDR-W (Bandag Drive Regional- Winter) tread for the North American market. A drive tire with directional tread, it has a tread design with full sipes for added traction in harsh winter conditions, even on snow layers that remain unsalted and polished by non-studded tires.

BDR-W is developed for North America and Europe and is designed for drive positions in over-the- road and pick-up and delivery applications. It has improved snow traction without sacrificing treadwear.

“These treads are intended to be put into use just before the winter season begins with or without studs and chains,” says Chris Hoffman, product manager, global tire products, Bandag, “BDR-W offers a deep 26/32-inch tread depth and a variable sipe configuration that reduces tearing and irregular wear.” The tread comes in 210, 220, 230, 250 mm sizes; an additional size (240 mm) will be available soon.
