Donaldson Co Inc has been recognized in a third-party survey as the preferred supplier of replacement mufflers by medium- and heavy-duty truck owners. Conducted by independent research firm, MacKay & Co, the 2003 North American on-highway truck market study surveyed preferences for diesel engine replacement muffler brands and was distributed to Class 6-8 vehicle operators and maintenance staff.

According to the study, Donaldson mufflers are the leading choice for replacement on Class 8 trucks, acquiring 48% of the responses. Similarly, Donaldson replacement mufflers are the most-specified on Class 6 and Class 7 trucks, garnering 44% of responses.

Compared with the MacKay & Co survey in 1999, Donaldson mufflers for Class 6-7 trucks gained 28 percentage points.
