Baker wins ATA top safety award

Mike Baker, safety director for Usher Transport Inc, Louisville KY, has been named the American Trucking Associations Safety Director of the year for 2002. Baker received the award at the ATA Safety & Loss Prevention Management Council's Fall Conference October 1 in Sparks NV.

In April, Baker received the National Tank Truck Carriers (NTTC) 2001 Safety Director of the Year award, and Usher Transport received the NTTC Outstanding Performance Trophy for its safety program. Baker also serves on the NTTC Safety Council, representing the eastern district.

The ATA award is presented annually to the motor carrier safety executive whose professional qualifications, safety programs, and achievements are deemed outstanding.
