Thomas D Brown, president of Brown NationaLease, Des Moines IA, has ended his term as 2000-2001 chairman of the Truck Renting and Leasing Association (TRALA). Reed Murphy III has been elected 2001-2002 chairman, and the board named Peter J Vroom president. J Michael Payne, who steps down as president, will continue as chief executive officer until the end of 2001. Seven new directors joined the TRALA board: Michael Cancelliere, vice-president of North American sales, International Truck and Engine Corp, Chicago IL; Phillip Hirsch, vice-president, CitiCapital, Harrison NY; Duane Johnson, general manager, Inland Kenworth, Coquitlam, British Columbia; Scott Kress, vice-president — business development and industry relations, Mack Trucks Inc, Allentown PA; Don Krom, leasing manager, Southeastern Leasing & Rental Co, Charlotte NC; Robert Shingle, president, PRIMMS LP, a NationaLease Affiliate, Oakbrook TN; and Charles Sommer, president, Public Service Track Renting Inc, Long Island City NY.
The Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturing Association (SOCMA) has named Kathleen A Shaver director of Responsible Care. Before joining SOCMA, Shaver was manager of environmental and regulatory affairs for the Performance Polymers and Chemicals Business Unit of Honeywell International Inc.
