Transport Service Co (TSC), Hinsdale Il, has received the American Chemistry Council’s Responsible Care Management System RCMS Certification, according to company information.

Under the direction of Tom Hosty, vice-president, safety, security and regulatory compliance, and working with Peter Nativo, vice-president of maintenance, John Miskimen, vice-president of operations chemical division, and George Peirce, Responsible Care Coordinator, the carrier underwent corporate and terminal audits conducted by Midland Engineering Ltd, an independent audit firm. The auditors verified that TSC met certain criteria in the areas of environment, health, safety, and security.

There were five major component areas audited to confirm the TSC management system:

•Policy and Leadership.

•Planning.

•Implementation, Operation and Accountability.

•Performance Measurement, Corrective and Preventive Action.

•Management Review and Reporting.

TSC is currently working with the ACC through a bulk truck work team to help the carrier's drivers safely inspect the top of their tanks after loading and unloading. As a Responsible Care Partner, TSC hopes to find other common safety issues so that the carrier can jointly develop solutions by working with the ACC members.

TSC has been a Responsible Care Partner since 1997.
