Based on assessments to date, TEPPCO Partners LP, Houston TX, has announced that its Gulf Coast facilities suffered no damage as a result of Hurricane Gustav, which made landfall Monday in Louisiana.
The partnership’s refined products pipeline system serving markets in the Midwest and northeastern United States remained operational throughout the storm at reduced rates.
Service on TEPPCO’s 14-inch products pipeline was temporarily suspended but resumed normal operations at 8 am central daylight time September 4. All terminals are currently fully staffed.
According to the TEPPCO information, the company does not expect any supply disruptions along its products system as a result of Gustav and is maintaining regular communications with its customers.
As a safety precaution, TEPPCO’s port facilities in Texas City and Freeport TX were evacuated, which required service on the 30-inch diameter Seaway pipeline between the Texas Gulf Coast and Cushing OK to be suspended. The pipeline resumed normal operations shortly after 8 am September 2.
TEPPCO’s Marine Services group also did not experience any damage to its asset. The group operates 51 tow boats and 111 barges that transport refined products, crude oil, condensate, asphalt, heavy fuel oil, and other heated oil products along key inland waterways. It also gathers crude oil from production facilities and platforms in the Gulf of Mexico.
