Tank truck rollover video now at a theater/computer near you

It was a long wait but it was worth it. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) finally released its long-anticipated Cargo Tank Rollover Prevention Video to an eager audience.

Produced in collaboration with the Department of Transportation, the training video features several experienced tank truck drivers educating other drivers about the contributing factors of rollovers and steps drivers can take to prevent future incidents. Research shows that driver action plays a role in the majority of rollovers, so properly educating drivers has the potential to reduce the occurrence of those incidents.

“Although rollovers are rare, we recognize that they can be serious, and this video reaches out to truck drivers in an effort to reduce those incidents,” says John Conley, National Tank Truck Carriers (NTTC) president. “This outreach video is part of our proactive commitment to work with the government or anyone else in improving truck safety and minimizing the risk of such incidents.”

This video is the latest in a series of actions NTTC has taken to improve safety in the tank truck sector of the industry, according to Conley. For more than three years, NTTC has convened rollover prevention summits and reached out to drivers with posters and other publicity in an effort to raise safety awareness.

The video can be viewed here (http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/about/outreach/cargo-tank-video.aspx), and DVD copies are available upon request.
