CVSA joins others supporting HOS lawsuit stay

Sep 10, 2004 11:26 AM

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) has filed a motion with the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia in support of a motion staying the court’s July 16 decision overturning the new hours-of-service (HOS) rule. The motion was filed August 30 by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to give the agency time to re-examine the regulation.

CVSA believes that if the motion is not granted, and the old rules were brought back into place during the interim period, substantial disruption in the enforcement of hours of service regulations would occur and compromise highway safety.

Also seeking similar action are the American Trucking Associations (ATA) and the National Industrial Transportation League (NITL).
