Schneider National Inc has been honored for its advanced IT (information technology) systems by being included on the IDG InfoWorld 100 list for 2007. The annual awards pay tribute to IT projects that demonstrate the most creative use of cutting-edge technologies to further business goals. This is the first time Schneider has been named to the InfoWorld list.
Schneider made the InfoWorld 100 list for its development of a new program designed to reduce the complexity of dray dispatching (dispatching trucks and drivers to short-haul freight to warehouses or railyards). Named the Dispatch Execution Planning & Optimization Tool (DEPOT), the Java-based application provides the trucking company's dispatchers with information on loads, drivers, and available empty boxes, while recommending the most efficient and effective customer solutions for intermodal freight moves.
