Poster contest to stress seat belt safety
Feb 8, 2008 9:58 AM
The American Trucking Associations (ATA) is inviting children ages 5-12 with a parent who is a truck driver to submit a hand-drawn poster that conveys the "Be Ready. Be Buckled." safety belt message.
ATA, the Department of Transportation, and other safety belt partners are participating in what is the first ATA children's poster contest for the safety belt message, ATA said.
Slated to be an annual event, the contest is designed to encourage truck drivers to buckle their seat belts. “If truck drivers won’t buckle up for themselves, it’s my hope that they will at least do it for their families and children as they go about their daily routine of moving America,” said John Hill, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration administrator.
The winner of the poster contest will receive a $1,000 savings bond and will be recognized, along with his or her family, in Washington DC May 5, 2008, during North American Occupational Safety and Health Week.
Entries for the contest must be submitted by February 29, 2008, to:
