Trade using truck transportation between the United States and its North American Free Trade Agreement partners rose in June from the month before with exports up 2.1 percent and imports up 0.7 percent.

Truck transport between the United States, Canada, and Mexico has increased 14.2 percent from the same time last year.

The report from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics also includes data related to freight movements by rail and pipeline. All surface transportation between the partners increased 1.4 percent in June from the month before and 12.6 percent in June from the year before.

US-Canada trade

The value of imports carried by truck between the US and Canada was 6.3 percent higher in June 2006 than June 2005, while the value of exports carried by truck was 12.0 percent higher. Michigan led all states in surface trade with Canada in June.

US-Mexico trade

The value of imports carried by truck between the United States and Mexico was 15.0 percent higher in June 2006 than June 2005 while the value of exports carried by truck was 18.4 percent higher. Texas led all states in surface trade with Mexico in June with $7.4 billion.
