EPA defers action on electronic manifest
Apr 8, 2005 8:11 AM
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is deferring final action on a proposal that would allow hazardous wastes manifests to be transmitted electronically from the generator to the disposal facility, rather than having them accompany the shipment.
According to information in the Federal Register April 6, the Pipeline and Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA) is withdrawing a similar proposal (49 CFR Part 172) published August 8, 2001, by its predecessor (the Research and Special Programs Administration) that addressed the changes proposed by EPA.
