Freight transportation index drops in October

The Transportation Service Index (TSI) for freight fell 0.4 percent to 111.3 in October from the September level of 111.8, falling for the fourth time in five months to its lowest level since December 2004.
The October 2005 level of 111.3 is 1.0 percent higher than the October 2004 level of 110.2 (Table 4), according to Department of Transportation information.
TSI is a single seasonally adjusted index of the month-to-month changes in the output of services provided by the for-hire transportation industries, including railroad, air, truck, inland waterways, pipeline, and local transit.
