Petroleum transport hijacked in Houston

A petroleum transport with a load of diesel was hijacked early Monday morning, May 5, after the driver pulled away from loading at a Houston TX terminal, according to a spokesman at the Houston Police Department.
A man, possibly armed, jumped into the cab and forced the driver to drive to a nearby freeway before eventually freeing the driver. Police declined to give further details, pending further on-going investigation. It is assumed that the vehicle had not been recovered by Wednesday morning. No information was available about how much product the tank truck was hauling.
A similar occurrence was reported last year by the Washington Post in which a tank truck driver in Baltimore MD was forced to give up his vehicles at gunpoint. The 7,000-gallon transport, which was hauling fuel oil, was later found with the cargo tank empty.
