Jun 5, 2007 2:42 PM
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is correcting some parts of a May 29 proposed rulemaking that would establish annual fees and a fee bracket structure for the Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) Agreement as required under the Unified Carrier Registration Act of 2005, according to information published in the Federal Register June 5.
Some of the corrections refer to information for submitting comments on the proposal that are to be submitted to FMCSA on or before June 13, 2007. That date has not changed, but comments received after the comment closing date will be included in the docket and FMCSA will consider late comments to the extent practicable. FMCSA may, however, issue a final rule at any time after the close of the comment period, according to the information.
The Unified Carrier Registration Agreement is an interstate agreement governing the collection and distribution of registration and financial responsibility information provided and fees paid by motor carriers, motor private carriers, brokers, freight forwarders, and leasing companies, according to the information.
