Dillon Transport Inc, a tank truck carrier in McCook IL, has received an Environmental Excellence Award from the Environmental Protection Agency SmartWay Transport Partnership for leadership in conserving energy and lowering greenhouse gas emissions from transportation and freight activities, according to Dillon information.

Dillon Transport adopted multiple strategies, including wide-based tires, synthetic oils, and aerodynamic cab design to save 200,000 gallons of fuel, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 2,200 tons, and generate approximately $300,000 in savings.

“Our partnership with SmartWay Transport shows companies can lower their fuel use, save money and help the environment,” said Charles Musgrove, director of operations. “The partnership provides us with tools and information, and contributes on a daily basis to significant improvements in our efficiency and environmental performance. We urge all of our colleagues in the industry to consider joining SmartWay.”
