hazmat routing changes

Aug 21, 2008 8:31 AM

Hazardous materials routing and general information for truck drivers during the Democratic National Convention in Denver CO August 25-28 has been announced by the Colorado State Patrol and the Denver Police.

Due to the Democratic National Convention, alternative temporary routes are established for hazardous materials and will be in effect August 23 - 30.

Drivers transporting placarded quantities of hazardous materials that are required to be routed under Colorado’s regulations will need to be aware of alternative routes that will be in effect during the convention, according to information posted on Colorado's Department of Transportation (CDOT) Web site.

Quantities of hazardous materials that are required to be routed will be restricted from downtown Denver, except for the purposes of local pickup and delivery.

CDOT also advised drivers to allow additional time to reach their destinations in and through the city.
