United States chemical production waned 0.4 percent in August, following a revised 0.3 percent increase in July, according to the American Chemistry Council (ACC).

Compared to August 2005, chemical production was up by 2.4 percent, and was up 0.3 percent on a year-to-date basis.

Declines in chemical production activity were experienced throughout all regions. Declines ranged from 0.2 percent in the Midwest region to 0.7 percent in the Northeast.

Compared to a year ago, chemical production was up in all regions, with the strongest year-over-year gains in the Ohio Valley region. And on a year-to-date basis, production rose in all regions with the exception of the Gulf Coast and Mid-Atlantic regions.
