Senate confirms Hill to head FMCSA, STB nominees

Senate confirmations August 3 include the nomination of John H Hill to be administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and three people to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).

Hill previously served as FMCSA chief safety officer and assistant administrator before being nominated in June by President Bush to head the agency. He came to FMCSA from the Indiana State Police, where he was the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division commander.

STB confirmations include Mark V Rosenker of Maryland, currently acting chairman, who was approved as chairman for a term of two years. Also confirmed were Charles D Nottingham, of Virginia for a term expiring December 31, 2010, and Robert L Sumwalt IL of South Carolina for a term expiring December 31, 2011.
