Capka nominated for FHWA administrator

Richard Capka has been nominated by President Bush for administrator of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

Capka currently serves as the FHWA’s deputy administrator. He previously served as the agency’s acting administrator.

Earlier in his career, Capka served as chief executive officer of the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority.

He served in the Army Corps of Engineers for 29 years and is a retired brigadier general. He received his bachelor's degree from the United States Military Academy and holds master's degrees from the University of California at Berkeley and Chaminade University of Honolulu.
