ATA supporting CAFTA

Jul 21, 2005 12:56 PM

The American Trucking Associations (ATA) and the Agricultural and Food Transporters Conference, an affiliate of ATA, are supporting the Central America Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA), citing its potential to increase both domestic and international economic opportunities for the United States and for ATA’s member motor carriers.

“Expanded exports and free trade are good business for commercial transporters of agricultural and food commodities because they increase US agricultural exports and put US agriculture on equal footing with its competitors,” AFTC Chairman Greg Owen said. “These comprehensive agreements will include all sectors of agriculture with no exceptions.”
