ATA supports Hill for FMCSA administrator

The American Trucking Associations (ATA) is supporting the nomination of John Hill as the next Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) administrator.
"I commend President Bush for his decision to nominate John Hill," said Bill Graves, ATA president and chief executive officer. "His proven record, both at the state and federal level, as a top safety professional is a tremendous asset, and we look forward to working as partners in our continuing efforts to improve highway safety. As an industry, we face many challenges in moving the nation's goods in a safe, efficient, secure, and environmentally sound manner. As the chief safety officer of FMCSA, John Hill has demonstrated an understanding of those challenges and the need to bridge the operational needs of the trucking industry with the regulatory responsibilities of the agency."
The White House made the announcement of President Bush's nomination May 16. Hill came to FMCSA from the Indiana State Police, where he was the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division commander.
