Select Energy acquires Riverside, Blue Star

Aug 23, 2011 10:49 AM

Select Energy Services LLC, a water solutions, oilfield service, and supply company headquartered in Houston TX; has acquired Riverside Transportation Inc, an oilfield fluid hauling and disposal company based in Carlsbad NM; and Blue Star Oilfield Services LLC, a tank truck services company operated by Riverside.

“Riverside has established a strong presence in the Permian by offering efficient and experienced water solutions services to their customers,” said John Schmitz, chief executive officer of Select. “We look forward to working with Riverside to expand Select’s current operations into the active unconventional shale part of the basin.”

The Riverside acquisition presents several opportunities that will allow Select to expand its service offering in the Permian Basin. Specifically, the acquisition provides Select with increased fluid hauling services and a water station, permitted by the municipality of Carlsbad, for supplying water to hydraulic fracturing operations. Select offers water transfer services in the West Texas area of the Permian through its SweetH2O Transfer Services division. This move allows Select to launch operations in the western portion of the Permian Basin. Daniel Baeza, founder of Riverside, will lead fluid hauling and disposal operations in the region. Select will introduce its additional service lines to operators, while providing Riverside the capital to meet increased demand for water solutions services.
