Aug 23, 2007 10:25 AM

Oiltanking Odfjell Terminals, Hamburg, Germany, has signed a letter of intent with Aromatics Oman Ltd to construct, own, and operate the bulk liquid import and export facilities for Aromatics Oman in the Industrial Port of Sohar, Sultanate of Oman.

Under a long term agreement, Oiltanking will construct eight storage tanks with a total capacity of 274,000 cubic meters (1.7 million barrels) to accommodate the feedstock as well as paraxylene and benzene that Aromatics Oman will produce. Aromatics Oman started construction on the aromatics plant in 2006 and aims to bring the facilities on stream by mid 2009.

Oiltanking said it will continue its discussions with other petroleum and chemical companies that have or target to have production facilities within the Industrial Port of Sohar.
