E W “Pete” Johnson Jr of Landenberg PA, former vice president of operations at Matlack Inc, died April 1, 2009, at the Chester County Hospital in West Chester PA. He was 67. Born in Greene NY, he was a graduate of the Valley Forge Military Academy. Johnson started his career with Matlack in West Chester, and during his 30-year career was promoted from mechanic to terminal manager to vice president of operations. He was active in the National Tank Truck Carriers. At the time of his death, he was serving as business manager for J-Tech Inc of Chester Springs PA. Surviving is his wife, Karen “KC,” formerly of Fond du Lac WI; three sons, Scott Johnson of Pottstown PA, Todd Johnson of Green Lane PA, and Mark Johnson of Tyler TX; two daughters, Kristen Britt of Bath MA and Sherry DeCarville of Malvern PA; stepdaughter Cynthia Martini and stepson Ralph Slaasted Jr, both of Racine WI; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
