Hoyer acquires control of Turkish company

Sep 26, 2012 10:42 AM

Logistics group Hoyer, headquartered in Hamburg, Germany,  is acquiring a majority interest in Aktifsped, a Turkish company. Aktifsped, a  forwarder founded in 1996 and based in Gebze near Istanbul, is an established  business in the Turkish market that specializes in national and international  road haulage and container trucking. The company employs 70 people and has  three branches: in Istanbul, Konya, and Adana.

Hoyer has had its own office in Istanbul for the past 15  years, with the site managing transport of chemical products, foodstuffs,  liquid gases, and petroleum.

The takeover of Aktifsped ticks several boxes in terms of  Hoyer’s goals. By building up its regional presence, it will be in a position  to explore other geographical markets, as well as expand its portfolio of  services and improve its competitive standing. By enlarging its own fleet of 40  tractors with the Turkish company’s 30—as well as 80 chassis for containers  from 20 to 40 TEU—Hoyer enlarges its capacity in Turkey.

Günter-Friedrich Maas, head of the Chemilog business unit  at Hoyer; and Ekin Tirmann of Aktifsped will be joint managers of Aktifsped.
