Flint Hills Texas terminals win OSHA award

Flint Hills Resources LP Texas fuel terminals in Austin, San Antonio, Waco ,and Fort Worth have achieved Voluntary Protection Program Star status from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), according to Flint Hills information.
The OSHA program recognizes and promotes effective workplace safety and health management. In the program, management, labor and OSHA establish a cooperative relationship at a worksite that has implemented strong safety and health systems. Star participants, who meet all requirements, are at the top of the program's recognition ladder. OSHA will not target a program-approved worksite for regularly programmed inspections, although the site must continue to abide by all OSHA safety and health standards, and the agency will respond to workers' complaints and serious accidents, according to OSHA information.

The terminals handle refined products such as gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel that are transported on Flint Hills-owned pipelines that originate at the company’s refining complex in Corpus Christi TX. Terminal employees (six each in Waco and San Antonio, eight in Austin, and 12 in Fort Worth) ensure the safe and environmentally responsible operations of the terminals, which operate round-the-clock. Third-party trucks load fuel at the terminals and transport the fuel to customers in the areas served.
