The US Chamber of Commerce's board of directors elected John Ruan III as its chairman for a one-year term. Ruan, the chairman of Iowa-based Ruan Transportation Management Systems, takes on the role formerly held by Thomas D Bell, chairman of SecurAmerica LLC. Ruan is also director and chairman of Iowa Export-Import and The World Food Prize Foundation; director, chairman, and president of City Center Corp; director of Seven Hundred Grand Association; trustee of John Ruan Foundation Trust; and director, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Ruan Center Corp, Ruan Car Sales Inc, and Ruan Inc.

Westway Group Inc has appointed Robert H Lewis senior vice-president of corporate business development. Lewis has experience both in consulting and corporate management. He worked with a big four consulting firm with responsibilities in merger and acquisition services, as well as various senior managerial roles in a global aviation and fuels firm.
