Diesel fuel’s national average price climbed 0.8 cent to $3.438 a gallon, its ninth straight gain, according to US Department of Energy information.

The rising prices have left diesel every week for the past nine weeks at its highest level since October 2008, when it was coming off its record highs of that year.

Diesel is now 65.7 cents higher than the same week in 2010. Trucking’s main fuel has risen 27.6 cents in the past nine weeks.

Prices rose moderately in all regions, led by New England’s gain of 2.4 cents to $3.633, the highest nationwide. The East Coast increased 1.4 cents $3.494. California gained 1 cent to $3.612 a gallon, and the Gulf Coast rose 0.2 cent to $3.533.
