Price of diesel fuel sinks
for five consecutive weeks

The average price of a gallon of diesel fuel nationwide fell 1.8 cents to $2.928 a gallon, marking its fifth straight decline and leaving it at its lowest level in three months, according to US Department of Energy information.
This downturn left trucking’s main fuel 35.6 cents higher than the same week in 2009. Diesel is at its lowest since March 15, when it registered $2.924 a gallon. It has declined 19.9 cents in the past five weeks after gaining 37.1 cents from mid-February through mid-May.
All regions but California reported lower prices. The biggest decline of 3.1 cents to $2.989 was in the Rocky Mountain area. California was the most expensive at $3.68, unchanged from the previous week. The cheapest diesel remained on the Gulf Coast at $2.874.
