Apr 14, 2010 12:49 PM

Despite widespread industry opposition, the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration has approved a hefty hike in the hazardous materials registration fees for 2010. The March 30 Federal Register carried the final rule.

Shippers and carriers classified as other than small business now have to pay a $2,600 annual registration fee that includes a $25 processing fee. Companies classified as a Small Business ($25.5 million for trucking) will continue to pay a yearly registration fee of $275 (plus $25 processing fee.)
