Auxiliary air-conditioners for sleeper cabs

Feb 1, 2004 12:00 PM

Taylor Made Environmental has developed a new series of auxiliary truck air-conditioning systems designed to cool or heat the living quarters without running the truck's diesel engine.

The system consists of a 14,000-Btu condensing unit mounted in the truck's undercarriage and a 16,000-Btu ductable cooling/heating unit in the sleeper. These two units are connected by insulated refrigerant tubes.

A reverse-cycle heat-pump condensing unit provides integrated heating and cooling. Supplemental electric heat strips in the cooling/heating unit provide additional heating capacity in extremely cold outside temperatures. Alternatively, the system can work with a DC-voltage diesel-fired heater, when installed.

The SMXir digital keypad/display provides user-friendly operation and programming to suit the trucker's preferences for temperature and airflow control. It also provides automatic safety monitoring functions. A remote point-and-click control is also an option. For full details, contact Taylor Made, PO Box 15299, Richmond VA 23227-0699.
