Vistar Datacom, through its Canadian partner Cancom Tracking, has signed a contract with Commercial Transport Northern Ltd, an affiliate of Maritime-Ontario Freight Lines, to equip its entire fleet with Vistar's GlobalWave asset management system. Installation has been 100% completed.

Using the GlobalWave MT2000 wireless data terminals mounted on tankers and communicating via geostationary satellite, the GlobalWave technology will enable the commercial vehicles to be tracked and monitored. Its two-way communication capability will facilitate up-to-the-minute information exchanges between the vehicles and the distribution center concerning location, route optimization, and status of cargo.

With a fleet of 100 tankers, Commercial Transport Northern Ltd transports dry bulk and hazardous materials throughout Ontario, Quebec, New York, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.
