Qualcomm Inc has announced the commercial release of its ViaWeb 3.0 Internet-based load tracking interface.
Using data from Qualcomm's mobile communications systems, ViaWeb enables fleets of all sizes, as well as third parties, to track and report online current load status and position, information, proof of delivery and exception data. By accessing a ViaWeb home page, which can be customized with a carrier's logo, users can request the data in download form as well as formatted historical load event summaries and mapping.
The newest features added to ViaWeb 3.0 include a simpler user interface and support for multiple loads per manifest and driver-initiated load assignments, which allows use by fleets with manual dispatching. ViaWeb currently supports real-time information reporting from Qualcomm's OmniTRACS mobile communications system, and support for the OmniExpress mobile communications system is expected by third-quarter 2001.
