Magellan is entering the commercial transportation navigation GPS market with the introduction of its RoadMate Commercial 5190T GPS navigator. It is designed for over-the-road or local truckers and fleet owners with pre-loaded maps of the United States and Canada.
The 5190T's 5-inch color high-definition touchscreen display is easy to read inside a dark truck cab and makes every map detail easy to see. It comes with a built-in speaker and wireless Bluetooth technology with an audio level up to 93 decibels, making it easy to hear voice directions and phone calls (with compatible phones). Additionally, it has an IPX-50 dustproof casing and an A/V input to easily connect external devices such as a back-up camera. The built-in connector and Magellan Fleet Management interface tool kit assist any fleet management system provider.
Three key features of the 5190T are its commercial vehicle customized routing, multi-stop planning, and route optimization capabilities.
The Multiple Driver Log-in function is available. Hours-of-service and driving status for multiple drivers can be logged, tracking hours and state mileage for fuel records. Logs can be exported for compliance reporting.
This navigator includes free lifetime traffic alerts with real-time traffic information to help drivers avoid delays. The Highway Lane Assist feature shows highway signs that guide drivers, providing advanced warning to help them choose the correct lane when approaching an interchange or exit.
The unit also includes Magellan's OneTouch user interface; Smart Detour; either 2D or 3D viewing; automatic rerouting; an information dashboard; more than six million points of interest as well as highway-exit POIs; and a truckstop directory with amenities for each location.
The 5190T will be available in spring 2012. It comes complete with cradle, cradle-mount adapter plate and screws, windshield mount, vehicle power adapter, USB cable, and quick-start guide.
