US Oil, Ruan partner on new Des Moines CNG fueling station

Nov. 18, 2014

US Oil and Ruan Transportation Management Systems have announced a joint agreement to build a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station in Des Moines IA. The station will be located at 120 NE Broadway Ave.

U.S Oil currently has 38 GAIN Clean Fuel stations open or under construction across the country. The rapidly expanding national network of compressed natural gas stations offers regional and national carriers an environmentally-friendly, lower cost fueling option for fleets. A Wisconsin-based company, US Oil facilities serve carriers located across the United States, with a strategic goal of having more than 100 CNG stations open within the next two years.

“This is another great location for us,” says Bill Renz, general manager for GAIN Clean Fuel. “We're developing a network of CNG stations along major carrier routes that create significant benefit for customers and meet a growing need in the industry. We believe CNG satisfies a desire by carriers who want to leverage the savings and environmental benefits of CNG over diesel fuel."

Ruan’s CEO Steve Chapman says: “This is a significant next step forward for our company. CNG use in the dedicated contract carriage industry is growing, and this not only gives us a competitive advantage by offering an additional lower cost fueling choice, it helps us meet our sustainability goals. We believe it's more than just good business, it’s a commitment to making our trucking operations part of the equation when it comes to the stewardship of the environment."

Ruan currently has 85 CNG tractors in the Midwest with plans to expand to additional units where there is a fit for CNG.
