CCA licenses Nationwide Boiler Inc to use TRIM-NOX on fire tube boilers

CCA announced that it had signed a license and supply agreement with Fremont CA-based Nationwide Boiler Inc to use CCA’s patented TRIM-NOX urea injection system for SCR applications on fire tube boilers.

CCA announced that it had signed a license and supply agreement with Fremont CA-based Nationwide Boiler Inc to use CCA’s patented TRIM-NOX urea injection system for SCR applications on fire tube boilers. The TRIM-NOX injection system provides precise metering of non-hazardous urea solution into the boiler where it decomposes to ammonia and reacts across a down stream exhaust catalyst to reduce oxides of nitrogen (NOx) by more than 90%. The computer-controlled TRIM-NOX injection system includes load following and data logging capabilities. It controls multiple solenoid-actuated urea metering valves on low-pressure air assisted injection lances to adjust injection rate as boiler load changes.

Nationwide Boiler will incorporate the TRIM-NOX urea injection system into its CataStak-FT SCR system for fire tube boilers. The use of a urea solution will eliminate the need for boiler owners and operators to store or handle ammonia on site. Many commercial, institutional and small industrial sites are not equipped to handle hazmat safety programs associated with alternative ammonia-based SCR systems.

“CCA and Nationwide Boiler recently demonstrated NOx emission levels as low as 1 ppm on an 800-hp (27,600-lb/hr) Cleaver-Brooks fire tube boiler during a joint demonstration program. Safe and reliable commercial operation is expected at NOx emission levels below 5 ppm”, said Larry Day, vice-president of sales and marketing at Nationwide Boiler.

Under terms of the license agreement, CCA will be the exclusive supplier of urea injection systems to Nationwide Boiler for fire tube boiler SCR applications. Nationwide Boiler will be a licensed supplier of SCR systems utilizing the TRIM-NOX injection system.
