Blackmer, a global leader in positive displacement rotary vane and reciprocating-gas compressor technologies, has announced it is sponsoring the National Propane Gas Association’s Propane Centennial Celebration (PCC). The year-long celebration kicks off April 14-16 at the Propane Autogas Clean Air Vehicle Rally at the 2012 NPGA Southeastern Convention & International Propane Expo in Atlanta GA.

Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), or propane, is a clean-burning fuel that was first discovered by Dr Walter O Snelling more than 100 years ago. According to PERC, the United States uses propane in more than 14 million homes and on 865,000 farms.

Blackmer developed the first practical positive displacement gas pump over 50 years ago. Today it is recognized as a leader in liquefied gas pumps and oil-free reciprocating-gas compressors with its industry-leading technology found in everything from the smallest cylinder filling operation to the largest, most sophisticated bulk plant or railcar unloading system.

“We are honored to be a part of this great celebration,” says Tom Madden, PSG vice-president and general manager of Blackmer. “We proudly support propane’s role in helping consumers worldwide cut emissions and help the environment, and we look forward to playing an important role in its use into the future.”
