Meritor WABCO Vehicle Control Systems will be demonstrating its OnGuard Collision Safety System during a free ride-n-drive event at the Mid-America Trucking Show held March 22-23. Visit booth #99500 located in the back of the South Wing of the Kentucky Exposition Center during show hours for the opportunity to ride in an OnGuard-equipped vehicle and see the technology in action.

OnGuard is the first “always on” collision safety system, providing vehicles with an active braking system regardless if the cruise control is engaged. Leading the industry with more than 20,000 units sold and more than 2.5 billion miles of proven road experience since its industry introduction in 2007, OnGuard is a proven safety technology that assists drivers in recognizing and responding to potentially dangerous driving scenarios that could lead to a rear-end collision. It is available today on vehicles from three major truck manufacturers in North America.

The OnGuard system features a forward-looking radar sensor that monitors the distance, speed and deceleration of a vehicle ahead and, if necessary, alerts the driver to take appropriate action using an in-cab display. If the driver doesn’t immediately decelerate the vehicle in response to a potential collision, the Collision Mitigation System (CMS) integrated within OnGuard automatically de-throttles the engine and provides up to a 50% full-service brake application to help the driver avoid or reduce the severity of a rear-end collision.
